Voost Voice is a dictation app made by VOOST VISION SRL (Romania). This policy explains what
data the app collects, why, and the control you have over it. We designed it so that data collection is
opt-in and transparent: nothing described here happens unless you accept it.
The short version
Data collection is off until you accept it on first launch, and you can turn it off anytime in Settings.
If you accept, we collect your transcriptions and usage details to improve the app.
We never tie data to your name or email — only to a random ID.
Your audio recordings are stored only if you separately tick that option; otherwise they are never kept.
To transcribe your speech, audio is sent to our transcription providers (Groq and/or OpenAI). This is required for the app to work at all.
What we collect (only with your consent)
Transcriptions — the text produced from what you dictate.
Usage details — the time, the configured language, recording length, transcription speed and provider, whether it was push-to-talk or toggle, and any errors.
Device basics — app version and operating system.
A random install identifier — generated on your device to group events from the same installation. It is not linked to your name, email, or any account.
Audio recordings — only if you opt in separately. Ticking "store my audio recordings" (in the welcome screen or Settings) lets us keep the recording so a poor transcript can be re-run. It is off by default; leave it off and your audio is never stored by us.
What we do NOT collect
Your audio recordings, unless you explicitly opt in as described above.
Anything you type or do outside Voost Voice.
Your name, email, or any directly identifying information.
Why we collect it
To understand how Voost Voice is used and where it fails, so we can improve accuracy, speed, and features. The
legal basis is your consent (GDPR Art. 6(1)(a)), which you can withdraw at any time.
Transcription providers
To convert your speech to text, the app sends your audio to Groq (primary) and/or
OpenAI (fallback), acting as processors. This happens whether or not you accept usage
analytics, because it is how dictation works. Review their policies:
Groq, OpenAI.
Where data is stored
Collected usage data is stored on infrastructure operated by Cloudflare on our behalf. It is
accessible only to VOOST VISION SRL.
Your rights
Under GDPR you can request access to, correction of, or deletion of your data. Because data is tied only to a random install ID, please include that ID (or contact us from the device) so we can locate it. To exercise any right, email contact@voostvision.com.
Turning it off
Open Voost Voice → right-click the tray icon → Settings → Data collection and untick the box. Collection stops immediately.
